My iPhone OS 3.0 Install Experience

10:22 – Got the file downloaded. Started syncing my iPod at around 10:00, just finished syncing and backing up.

10:25 – Extracting Software…. Preparing iPod for restore.

10:26 – iPod shut down and rebooting now.

10:27 – A loading bar? On the iPod? Never seen that before. haha “Restoring iPod software”

10:29 – Looks like the bar is at 1/4 or so on iPod. Still “Restoring iPod software”

10:29 – Verifying iPod software.

10:31 – Verifying iPod restore. Bar on iPod more than 1/2 now.

10:31 – Restoring iPod Firmware.

10:31 – Seems to have worked. iPod is restarting.

10:33 – It just recognized the iPod…. Using my backed-up settings to restore my apps, etc. “restoring iPod from backup”

10:36 – Still apparently restoring it. Doesn’t seem to be doing much of anything. I’ll just wait.

10:38 – There we go. “Restore in progress.” =] That makes me happy.

10:40 – Chatting with my brother about the install. He just did it a few days ago. Still restoring from backup, bar in iTunes about 1/3.

10:43 – More than 1/2 now. I’d say 2/3. This is taking longer than Gizmodo’s post… Hmmm.

10:46 – Almost there!

10:48 – All done. iPod is restarting. A bar appeared on the iPod.

10:48 – Now syncing. I’m guessing it’s my apps and stuff.

10:50 – Backing up my iPod. Not sure why, it’s just frigging original apps on it right now. >.> I’ll just leave it be for a while and download this audio driver.

10:53 – Still backing up… >_>

10:56 – Really iTunes? Really?

11:06 – Almost there…….~2 I’ll be doing stuff ’round the house, so it might complete without me knowing. I’ll try to keep an eye on it.

11:09 – I lied. My dad went upstairs, so I’m just gonna sit here. The backup doesn’t seem to be moving.

11:24 – Look! It moved! Done backing up! Now syncing!

11:27 – Syncing my songs. Moved relatively fast.

11:28 – Sync complete! Ok to disconnect!

11:29 – Where did my applications go? I’ll try syncing again.

11:32 – There we go! The “Sync Applications” checkbox was unchecked! Syncing/Installing Apps now.

Seems to be working great guys! I tried emailing and stuff, landscape mode works, Spotlight looks effective. I’ll do something more later!
